About Metrao

Meet Patty. Patty is our last line of defense when it comes to removing strings from our production facility that don’t meet the Metrao standards. She is the last person to handle a string before it goes to packaging. If Patty doesn’t approve the string – you won’t see it. Although far and few between, ANY NON-CONFORMING STRING WILL BE CUT AND THROWN AWAY.

The idea for Metrao Precision Bowstrings was born from the phrase, “ You are only as good as you can measure.” It has been a standard for G5 Outdoors since the company’s conception. Each Metrao string is hand crafted by G5 using only the best Brownell Excel materials.

The strings are not completed until they’ve been stretched and measured twice using our custom digital measuring gauge. The strings must reach at least a tolerance of +/- 0.010”. If a string fails to meet this requirement, it is destroyed. “Most manufacturers guarantee string length to +/- ¼ of an inch,” explains Rodney Ellsworth, G5 Production Manager. “We can do better.”

You might be wondering what in the world Metrao means. We spent a long time on this name and finally found it in the Greek language. The word “Metreo” directly translates to “To Measure.” We changed the spelling from Metreo to Metrao for pronunciation sake. Because the string department was a new horizon for us at G5 Outdoors, we searched far and wide for the expertise in string manufacturing. We found it in Ninja Custom Bowstrings. G5 partnered with the St. Louis based company to come up with the best possible combination of material and string making technology. We are confident we’ve found it in Metrao.
