This is a buck we called “J-hook” and had him on a predictable pattern. After a 10 hour drive through the night, he had an arrow in him by 8:55am on Sunday morning. @longrangearchery

Years of history and passing this buck led Steve to putting a megameat through this buck yesterday. He setup a stand after getting a picture of him just two days ago and the buck read the script. Triple brows and a kicker to boot! What a buck!

"A brisk cold front in early October made for a wonderful evening in the timber. A booner buck, I have thought about endlessly for 3 years, finally made a fatal mistake.

The chase for this deer began in fall of 2021. It was late November when I had the first encounter with him standing at 25 yards but I only had doe tags remaining after killing a 205” buck earlier in the season with my bow. I really got excited for the upcoming year and pursing this deer when I found his matched set which scored in the 180s later that spring. However, the 2022 season was anything but a cakewalk. It seemed like a chessboard that was ever changing as he traversed permission farms of mine miles apart. I have photos of him moving between 3 farms nearly 4 miles apart as the crow flies. He seemed to have no rhyme or reason for making an appearance at any of the farms I had permission to hunt, it seemed to be randomness at its finest and man was it frustrating. I remember heading to the woods with high anticipation only to learn he had traveled miles away during the night via camera notification. It was the inconsistency that made this the hardest mature buck I’ve ever hunted. During the front the randomness stopped and he did something predictable deep in his bedding area, and I was there to capitalize. Video to come this Sunday!" - @chase_grubbs

It all came together yesterday afternoon in Illinois when this 5 year old got a little too frisky and postured some younger bucks out of the cornfield. . . giving me a 30 yard shot. The G5 Deadmeat did it’s thing and he crashed in a thicket less than 100 yards away! What a great time to be in the woods!! Lovin’ November! @davidblantonrt

"The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! I am so proud of this dude. Held his composure perfectly with this buck circling the decoy looking for a fight. His second buck in two seasons! The shot was a little forward so we gave him some time and he wasn’t far at all. It’s amazing how much he’s learned in such a short time. “- @michaelhunsucker
