"The story of “Open Season” has come to an end! This was a buck we had tons of encounters with last year. Dawson named him “open season” since last year he only had half a rack. He almost sealed the deal one of those sits, but as fate would have it, his arrow ended up hitting a limb and missed the deer completely! I had many more encounters with this buck right under my stand but it was always at times when Dawson wasn’t with me and we just couldn’t make it happen last year. As trail camera pics started coming in this summer we were shocked at the jump he made and the extra character he put on! We were determined this year it was going to happen! As the season kicked off I wanted Dawson to have first dibs at this buck and so @tseasley and I spent our time just filming Dawson. After a handful of sits though, another buck that was the oldest bruiser on the prop came in and there was no way Dawson could pass him up and made an incredible shot! From then on I was determined to get “open season”. Ty and I started hunting every chance we got where we thought we had an opportunity to kill him. What I thought would be a fairly easy task proved to be wrong! While I thought I was figuring this buck out, it seemed as though he was figuring us out as well! He would daylight all the time except for the times we were there. When we would sit at one stand, he would show up at the other. This cat and mouse game went on for 16-17 hunts until finally it all came together. The night before I looked through all my pictures of him in hopes to find some type of pattern I was missing. The only thing I saw was when he would daylight the night before it seemed he would be there the next morning anywhere from 6:20-730. So we decide to get to the stand a bit earlier to beat him there and sure glad we did as he came through at 7:15!” - @steve.leeper

"Absolute deer of a lifetime! I was fortunate enough to fill my tag early in the hunt which left time for me to sit in the tree with my good buddy Tony. It was no questions what deer we were going after - one that he had some history with from the year prior that needed avenged! We knew the area that he really liked to spend time, but played cat and mouse for a few days and never laid eyes on him, but our second to last night, Brandon was scouting and watched him come out into an alfalfa field making scrapes all down the edge. The following evening we hung a stand in a tree where no stand should be hung, but we knew it was the right tree. We put the DSD Posturing Buck Decoy out and knew that he would not take kindly to another buck in his territory. We couldn't have written it up more perfect as a doe and fawn come in to feed right next to the decoy and when he came out, he was not happy! He came charging in and the rest is history. I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be in the tree when this cowboy when he wrote the last chapter of this story. It’s gonna be hard to ever top this one!” - @michaelhunsucker

"WE DID IT! A story that’s been in the making for quite some time. “Caeser” is one of those bucks that we live to chase and when the chase is over there’s a full bag of emotions. Appreciation for such an incredible animal, appreciation for everyone involved (I did not do this alone), relief that the strategy finally paid off and the thought of knowing he’s no longer around to chase.

First off, all glory to God. Second, @luchtel for his never-ending generosity as a parent. Third, @chandlershewmakerfor his hard work all across the board. I sent the arrow and punched the tag but it’s not just my story, it’s everyone’s involved. I couldn’t be more thankful. More to come!” - @shawn_luchtel
